As a final touch in a room, make sure your cushions pick up on the main colours in the same way that an artist does in an oil painting. They should accentuate the colours nearby and relate to each other.
Each of these cushions can stand alone but look best when grouped together. The complimentary colours act as a frame to make you focus on that section of the room.
Generally, a cushion should have some matching detail with its surrounding.

CUSHION DRAMA
A dramatic cushion, such as those by Emma Shipley who offers wild animal cushions should be placed alone
CUSHION MESSAGES
Cushion with message also break up the formality as invariably they have some witty saying on them but if placed in the middle of a bed-they make the main statement.
TACTILE CUSIONS
Anything in velvet, with a fringe or tassle is a must if you can. Be careful not to have anything that sticks into your guest ie bobbles that are too big or a cushion that is too rough is to be avoided.
